Parent Communication and Involvement

Communication between the Centre, Staff and families is vital to the Program at Pippies. 

Many different methods are used to facilitate such communication from the Daily Menu Board to the Monthly Newsletter.

We encourage every parent at 'pick up' to review the Daily News Board to see what activities your child has been participating in throughout the day. 

You will also notice that the rooms are decorated with paintings, crafts, science experiments and works in progress.  

It is a great idea to walk around the room every now and then to see what wonderful and interesting activities your child has been involved in.

Pippies at Balmoral has an Open Door Policy. Parents’ general contribution to the program and day-to-day running of the Centre is welcomed through ideas, suggestions and participation.

Opportunities are regularly presented to families to attend:

• Special functions
• Parent committee meetings
• Information/education nights
• Social occasions
• Excursions
• Parent participation days/Volunteer Mornings

Pippies holds functions during the year where parents have the opportunity to meet other parents such as evening bbqs with the children, cocktail parties, kids disco parties.  Parents are encouraged to attend the parent committee meetings and offer suggestions and participate in organising the events.

Birthday Lunches

Parents are able to come to the centre for their childs birthday to celebrate their birthday lunch.  Please notify Pippies prior to the day if you would like to bring a cake.

Parent Class Participation/Volunteer Mornings

Parents are able to come in on a nominated day and participate in the teaching of activities. We encourage parents to participate in these volunteer mornings so that parents can feel a part of your child's education and see first hand what happens during the Pippies day.  You can nominate to hold a special acitivity designed by yourself or just come and be apart of the morning hustle and bustle. Of course any family member or special friend may come and participate in our Volunteer mornings.

Parent Teacher Meetings

At least once a year and at the other times as needed, the teacher/director will hold a meeting with parents to discuss their child’s development and any special needs. Parents are encouraged to ask questions, express concerns or make suggestions about the program. Meetings with the Teachers/Director may be requested at any time by either parents or staff.

Parent Library

A selection of child development/family issue books are available for parents to borrow from.  Parents are encouraged to recommend titles for the centre to purchase.
